Social media is the key to the future: Hook them now, keep them forever!

It seems that everywhere you look anymore for news there is actually news about Facebook and Twitter. In fact, for people who turned to the Internet to avoid human interaction it is getting harder and harder to hide out. Why? Because companies are now capitalizing on social media. It is the best form of advertising and quickly becoming the easiest way to communicate directly with consumers.

Think about it for a second and take a minute to consider how much time you spend online. The average Facebook user checks their profile at least once a week, with younger consumers updating it almost daily, Twitter is the source of many celebrity break ups which all but encourages more people to check it out and use it, and Hulu is the best place to watch TV online without wasting half a lifetime for buffering.

People are using the Internet in storms, and if a business builds social media into its budget they are more apt to reach consumers and boost their image as a brand that is current and ‘cool.’ Even CRM magazine reports that with the economy tanking social media is the place that businesses need to zone in on, because it is cheap, effective, and current. Three traits that will make customers come back!

Thus, while many people complain about advertising online, social media is still reaching more consumers than any other type of advertising and that in itself is enough for any company to sit down and take note!
